Is GymUp really free?
Yes, for solo lifters. All core features (programs, logging, coach chat, wearable sync) are free forever. We offer a Pro tier ($7/mo) for coaches who want to run multiple athletes, and a paid team plan for gyms.
What is the MCP server and why does it matter?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard for letting LLMs safely read and act on real application data. GymUp ships its own MCP server, so you can hook up Claude, ChatGPT, or any compatible AI to ask questions and edit your program, with full permission control on your side.
Does it work without the AI features?
Absolutely. The AI coach is optional. You can use GymUp as a plain, very well-designed strength log and program builder. Everything works offline; AI features call out only when you explicitly ask.
Which platforms are supported?
iOS and Android at launch (private beta now, public this summer). A read-only web dashboard is in the works. Apple Watch and Garmin companion apps ship day one.
Can I export my data?
One tap exports everything, sessions, programs, notes, metrics, as CSV or JSON. Your training history is yours. We also support import from Strong, Hevy, and Fitbod so switching is painless.
